REVIEW

Not sure why this was originally flagged on 11/30 but trying again…. Another Banger by Penelope Douglas I am a new fan, this is only my 2nd book by Penelope and I am dancing around like a giddy 2yr old with her 1st bag of cotton candy!! I LOVE this author and both books I've read by her are ones that will stick with me now that I've finished...those are the best kind. I even shed a freaking tear at the end of this one. I was not ready for it nor expecting it so I was surprised when I had to pause my audible book and sob for a second. Luckily, I am the 1st person in my office everyday and nobody was here to see my shame. Punk 57 was not about what I thought it was going to be about. Yes, it had SOME of the elements the description gave but oh there was so much more. One of the "ah-ha" moments in the book was such a shocker and I was mad that I didn't see it coming. I'd thought up every other scenario BUT that one for the why of something going on throughout the book and I'm kicking myself! LOL Misha and Ryen had a friendship that so many of us dream of having. To be able to have someone in their corner from a child when you are insecure and uncertain about, well, everything, and want to strike out and make your mark. They went to 2 different schools and were set up as penpals by their 5th grade teachers. Hers thinking Misha was a girl and his teacher thinking Ryen was a boy! They figured it out pretty quickly but kept writing anyway, even when the project was over and became fast friends. This was the start of the story and boy did it branch off from there. The drama, passion, angst and heat! Boy oh BOY the HEAT🔥💦🥵! I totally forgot at times these were high schoolers let me tell you!!! I loved the overall story and as is the norm for these amazing stories lately, I gobbled it up in less than a day and this includes working, momming and sleeping to boot! This story is going on my favs shelf without question. I'm so freaking twitterpated I found a new author with an entire library to inhale that I feel Christmas DID come early for me this year, and early to boot! YES! The audible portion of this book was pretty darned good too! Matthew Holland and Laurie Catherine Winkel are both new narrators to me and both did a great job bringing the characters to life without overdoing the drama but making sure we FELT the emotions. Added so much depth to the story when listening. I just couldn't get enough of this story and was ligit sad to see it end. I kept trying to scroll to no avail. ): Will just have to crack open another one aye? Thank you Penelope Douglas for popping into my kindle feed AND booktok feeds too! I am happy to report that this author has depth and drama, smut and pain...the H was not as much a bully, the h might have been more so but that did NOT detract from the book at all! Not my standard bully romance but had all the feels all the same.
